AI Materials Informatics Specialist

Chemistry - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

As an AI Materials Informatics Specialist, you will be instrumental in curating, analyzing, and validating materials-related data to train and improve AI algorithms. Your work will directly support the creation of intelligent systems capable of predicting material properties and guiding experimental design.

Your contributions will include:

  • Materials Data Curation: Sourcing, cleaning, and structuring diverse materials datasets from scientific literature, databases, and experimental results.
  • Feature Engineering for Materials: Identifying and engineering relevant features from raw materials data (e.g., chemical composition, crystal structure) to optimize AI model performance.
  • Validation of AI Material Predictions: Evaluating the accuracy of AI models in predicting material properties, performance, and synthesis pathways.
  • Feedback on Materials AI Algorithms: Providing expert feedback on the logic and efficacy of AI algorithms designed for materials science applications.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for individuals with a strong foundation in materials science, chemistry, or chemical engineering, coupled with an interest in data and AI. Ideal candidates often possess:

  • A degree (Bachelor's or higher) in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with materials databases (e.g., Materials Project, PubChem) and materials characterization techniques.
  • Understanding of structure-property relationships in various material classes.
  • Basic proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.

Compensation

Payment rates for core project work by materials informatics specialists typically range from 36 USD per hour in the US, reflecting the specialized knowledge required. Rates may vary based on your specific expertise (e.g., polymers, ceramics, metallurgy), project complexity, and experience. Full payment terms will be provided for each project.
