About the Role
As an AI Archival Data Specialist, you will be crucial in ensuring that AI models accurately process and understand diverse archival materials, from handwritten documents to historical photographs. Your work will contribute to making historical records more accessible through AI.
Your contributions will include:
- Transcription & Verification: Transcribing handwritten historical documents and verifying AI-generated transcriptions for accuracy.
- Metadata Tagging: Creating and refining metadata for digitized archival collections, including dates, locations, subjects, and creators.
- Source Authentication: Assessing the authenticity and reliability of historical sources to guide AI in prioritizing credible information.
- Image Annotation for Historical Context: Annotating historical images, maps, and artifacts with relevant historical details to enrich AI's visual understanding.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for individuals with a background in archival science, history, library science, or a related field, with strong attention to detail. Ideal candidates often possess:
- A degree (Associate's or higher) in Archival Studies, History, Library Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Experience with historical document analysis and familiarity with various historical writing styles.
- Proficiency in identifying key historical figures, events, and locations.
- Exceptional organizational skills and commitment to data precision.
Compensation
Payment rates for core project work by archival data specialists typically range from 33 USD per hour in the US, depending on the complexity of the archival materials and your specific expertise. Full payment terms will be provided for each project.
