About the Role

As an AI Legal Data Annotator, you will be responsible for structuring and enriching legal datasets, making them understandable for AI systems. Your precision in labeling will directly impact the accuracy and effectiveness of AI tools in legal applications.

Your contributions will include:

  • Document Categorization: Classifying legal documents (e.g., contracts, court filings, statutes) into predefined categories.
  • Key Information Extraction: Identifying and labeling specific entities within legal texts, such as parties, dates, jurisdictions, and monetary values.
  • Issue Spotting & Tagging: Marking legal issues, arguments, or clauses within documents according to established guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance for AI Inputs: Reviewing and correcting existing legal data annotations to ensure high-quality training data for AI models.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for candidates with strong attention to detail and a basic familiarity with legal terminology and document types. Ideal candidates often possess:

  • Currently enrolled in or completed a pre-law, paralegal, or legal studies program, or have relevant legal administrative experience.
  • Ability to follow complex guidelines and maintain consistency in data labeling.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and analytical skills.
  • Prior experience with data annotation or structured data entry is a plus.

Compensation

Payment rates for core project work by legal data annotators typically range from 35 USD per hour in the US. Rates may vary based on the complexity of the legal documents, the specific annotation tasks, and your demonstrable accuracy. Full payment terms will be provided for each project.
